Williams and I thought it was great. Once I had finished I knew I had to read more of his books. So I jumped at the chance to not only read and review his next book but to also take part in the blog tour.

Review
My thoughts:
Natalie is a lovely character that I instantly liked. I think all of the characters in this book added a special something to the story, especially Charlie/Barney. I thought it was a good thing to have multiple love interests for Natalie. It made it a little bit more interesting to read and to find out who would suit her best.
The plot moved at a brisk pace and I enjoyed the interactions between Natalie and the other characters. I loved the history aspect of this book as at school it was my favourite subject. No matter where I travel I am always interested in the local history. So this was in my opinion a definite plus side to the book as it added extra depth. The writing was descriptive and at times I could really imagine I was there in France with Natalie, her grandmother and friends. The attention to detail is perfect and really helps set the scene.
T. A. Williams has wrote another hit with some lovely characters and a really engaging story.
Overall:
This story has a little bit of everything romance, history and lots of charm. I am already looking forward to reading more books by T. A. Williams.
What Happens at the Beach is a thoroughly enjoyable romance that left me with a smile!

Firstly, my name isn't T A. It's Trevor. I write under the androgynous name T A Williams because 65% of books are read by women. In my first book, "Dirty Minds" one of the (female) characters suggests the imbalance is due to the fact that men spend too much time getting drunk and watching football. I couldn't possibly comment. I've written all sorts: thrillers, historical novels, short stories and now I'm enjoying myself hugely writing humour and romance. Romantic comedies are what we all need from time to time. Life isn’t always very fair. It isn’t always a lot of fun, but when it is, we need to embrace it. If my books can put a smile on your face and maybe give your heartstrings a tug, then I know I’ve done my job.
I‘ve lived all over Europe, but now I live in a little village in sleepy Devon, tucked away in south west England. I love the place. That’s why you’ll find leafy lanes and thatched cottages in most of my books. Oh, yes, and a black Labrador.
I've been writing since I was 14 and that is half a century ago. However, underneath this bald, wrinkly exterior, there beats the heart of a youngster. My wife is convinced I will never grow up. I hope she's right.

Q&A with T. A. Williams
What do you like to do when you're not writing?
I exercise like a madman. I cycle and I walk every day. Well, to be honest, not absolutely every day as I hate the rain. I had a Labrador like that - he hated the rain and water in general. Giving him a bath involved a pool outside on the lawn and me in swimming things. Every now and then I do a bit of property development - buying and renovating an old house and then selling it again. I converted an old school into a house last year. That was fun.
If you were stranded on a desert island what three books would you want with you?
A book called "Survival on a Desert Island" would be useful, or "How to Make your own Girl Friday". Apart from such practical volumes, I would have to go for: "Tai Pan" by James Clavell (a fabulous saga of the early days of Hong Kong which is something like 1400 pages long), the Complete Works of Shakespeare (I'm trying to work through them this year and, boy, did he write a lot of words) and finally, a really good history of the world.
Can you choose three words that best describe your personality?
Optimistic (I'm a glass full to overflowing sort of man), imaginative (I've been telling stories since I was a little kid), thin-skinned (this hasn't improved with age. If I get a 1 star review, it spoils my day!)
What was the last book you read?
A weird book called "Q". It's set around the same time as Hilary Mantell's wonderful "Wolf Hall" and it's all about the wars of religion in Europe in the sixteenth century. It should have finished three quarters of the way through, but it was fascinating.
What did you enjoy most about writing What Happens at the Beach?
Remembering the place. Although the beach itself is imaginary, we used to go for our holidays every year to that wonderful, sunny part of France and I really enjoyed remembering what it was like. I wrote it over the winter, so it was a real delight to plunge into a warm, sunny environment when the weather outside my window was grey, cold and damp.
Of all the characters you have created, can you pick a favorite and why?
Humm, difficult question. The easy answer is any one of the Labradors (by the way, the next book will for the first time be Labrador-free - I hope my readers will forgive me). As far as people are concerned, I rather like Mark in What Happens at the Beach... He's an understated sort of guy, nursing some pretty damaging emotional baggage. I liked him. I also fall in love to some extent with all my girls, from the lovely Alice in When Alice Met Danny to Natalie in her bikini on the beach.
