Review - Looking for Captain Poldark by Rowan Coleman

About the book

Four strangers, united by their shared love of POLDARK, come together on a trip to Cornwall in search of their hero...

Lisa has sworn off love and relationships after a really bad experience, but lately she’s been tempted to take a chance on a more exciting life. First she meets other fans of the TV show Poldark online. Then she proposes a very special road trip to Cornwall, in search of where their favourite show is being filmed.

But can four strangers find friendship, as well as a certain sexy hunk on their trip south?

My Review

This is the first book that I read in the Quick Reads project this year. I adore reading so I am so happy to be helping to promote some of the books featured by Quick Reads, The Reading Agency and Galaxy.

The second book is The Other Side of You by Amanda Craig. You can find my review for that book here

When I read the description for Looking for Captain Poldark I guess the first thing that interested me was the road trip aspect then along with the mention of Poldark I knew I had to read it!
So what did I think...

Even though this is a short story I really connected with the characters especially Lisa. Rowan Coleman has created some brilliant characters and managed to bring them to life in just a short space of time. I thought it was great that each character had a distinct personality but with the show Poldark as something in common. A special mention has to go to Abby she was so much fun but with hidden depths too. Everything Abby says is hysterical she definitely has no filter, which I loved!

All of the characters have troubled pasts and it was lovely to see them tentatively make friends with each other on their road trip. Due to the length of the story it really is perfect to read in an evening with plenty of entertaining moments along the way. It's mostly light hearted but with a few twists to keep things interesting. I loved the bits of information at the start of each chapter it was a lovely touch and I thought the songs that were listed were great. The only downside is I wished it could have lasted longer!

A perfect pick me up!

Five stars from me!

Thank you to Quick Reads, The Reading Agency  and FMcM Associates for my copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
