#BlogTour - Mystery at Maplemead Castle by Kitty French @KFrenchBooks @bookouture #Review

Thank you for joining me today for my stop on the Blog Tour for Mystery at Maplemead Castle by Kitty French. I can't tell you happy I was to be invited to take part in the blog tour, thank you Kim! I absolutely adored the first book in the series - The Skeletons of Scarborough House (please note it was previously titled Melody Bittersweet and the Ghostbusting Agency) and you can catch my review here. If you haven't had chance to read it I highly recommend it. I believe it is currently 99p at Amazon UK so it's the perfect opportunity to buy!

Anyway enough of me waffling let's take a look at the description for the book and then you can read on for my review.

About the book

Welcome to Chapelwick, a leafy English town in the hills of Shropshire, where chocolate pecan cookies come with a helping of sabotage.

Maplemead Castle is crawling with ghosts, and the new owners need them gone. When Melody Bittersweet and the Girls’ Ghostbusting Agency arrive on scene, they quickly identify the troublemakers swinging from the chandeliers… literally.

A century ago, stunning trapeze artist Britannia Lovell plunged to her death, and has done every night since. But did she really just fall, or was there something more to her demise?

Forced to work with Leo Dark, her scoundrel ex, and infuriating, irresistible reporter Fletcher Gunn, Melody’s investigative powers are under strain (i.e. lost in a pink mist of lust and confusion). She needs her team on top form, but best friend Marina’s cake pipeline goes AWOL, assistant Artie’s distracted by a giant sausage roll, and the pug is scared witless by a lion.

Somewhere, hidden in the castle, is a heart-breaking secret, but what will it take to find it? And is there a chance it could set Britannia free, or is she doomed to repeat her last fateful act forever?

An utterly hilarious, gripping, spooktastic read for fans of HY Hanna, MC Beaton, Gina LaManna and Jana DeLeon.

My Review

As you can already guess I loved the first book in The Chapelwick Mysteries so I was hoping that the second book in the series would keep up the momentum and be just as brilliant.

So what did I think...

It's actually quite hard to write this review as I loved it that much, first of all I have to say thank you to Kitty French for creating some pretty amazing characters. The friendship between Marina and Melody is brilliant and with Artie added to the mix I really do love this trio of friends. I think most people would want to be friends with them and I really wish The Bittersweet Agency was real because I would be itching to join! I especially love the banter, flirtations and chemistry between Melody and Fletch. Their interactions are just that little bit fiery and flirty which is a great combination! Also got to admit I think I'm a bit in love with Fletch! (don't tell my hubby) Fletch and Leo can be hysterical at times as they have a mutual dislike for each other that carries over from the first book.

You know when a book says it has laugh out loud moments this book genuinely has them, lots of them. My attention was captured throughout and its a good job as I don't think I could have concentrated on anything else anyway. Put it this way I am so glad I started this book after my little ones bedtime as I would have hated to stop reading!

The mystery running throughout was great and captured my attention perfectly I love a good mystery so it was so much fun seeing Melody go about her work. This book has some emotional moments and I couldn't help but shed a few tears! There is however a great balance of humour, emotion and fun within this book and all of the characters had me hooked with their quirky ways. I love Melody's magic eight ball, maybe I should start using one too as I can be pretty indecisive at times!

I can't recommend this book enough I honestly think it will take a lot to knock this off the spot of one my favourite books of 2017! There are a few select books that I can happily read over and over again, this is one that I will happily add to that list along with the first book in the series.

A perfect pick me up with a storyline that will make you smile, laugh but also has that litttle bit of emotion that made me feel such a connection to this fab group of characters.

This book really is wonderful with the perfect combination of fun, romance, love and of course ghosts!

Five stars to this gorgeous story!

Thank you to Kim at Bookouture & NetGalley for my copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
