The Other Twin by L.V. Hay @LucyVHayAuthor #BlogTour @OrendaBooks #Review

I am delighted to be one of the stops on the blog tour for The Other Twin by L.V. Hay and also if you get chance today why not stop by the lovely Meggy and her blog https://chocolatenwaffles.com/

Today I will be sharing my review for this brilliantly dark and compelling story but first of all let's take a look at the description for the book...

About the book

When India falls to her death from a bridge over a railway, her sister Poppy returns home to Brighton for the first time in years. Unconvinced by official explanations, Poppy begins her own investigation into India's death. But the deeper she digs, the closer she comes to uncovering deeply buried secrets. Could Matthew Temple, the boyfriend she abandoned, be involved? And what of his powerful and wealthy parents, and his twin sister, Ana? Enter the mysterious and ethereal Jenny: the girl Poppy discovers after hacking into India's laptop. What is exactly is she hiding, and what did India find out about her? Taking the reader on a breathless ride through the winding lanes of Brighton, into its vibrant party scene and inside the homes of its well- heeled families, The Other Twin is a startling and up-to-the-minute thriller about the social-media world, where resentments and accusations are played out online, where identities are made and remade, and where there is no such thing as truth ...

My Review

After reading the description for this book I was instantly intrigued, I love a good mystery so that aspect to the story instantly appealed to me.

So what did I think...

The Other Twin has strong descriptions that managed to make me feel as if I was completely in the story and in Poppy's world. You can feel her pain and also her desire to discover the truth of what happened to India. With twists galore that definitely kept me on my toes and also trying to put everything together to come up with answers myself. The story moves quickly and I was left wondering which direction it would take next. I really loved the short chapters as they not only helped to keep the story moving quickly but also helped focus my attention on everything that was happening.

There is a definite tense undercurrent throughout the whole book along with a dark edge that had me constantly turning the pages. As details are revealed about India's life especially her feelings via her blog they were cryptic enough to make me even more curious. I ended up feeling as invested as Poppy in discovering the truth about India's death. With a maze of lies and secrets at every turn but also love and acceptance being major themes running throughout it was so easy for me to fall under this book's spell. There are quite a few characters in The Other Twin and they are most definitely flawed but felt ever so real to me. There was emotion that caught me unaware too and even days later I have found myself thinking over everything that happened in this story.

Fast paced, dark and completely gripping!

With thanks to Anne Cater for the invite to join the tour and Orenda books for my copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
