Puppy: 12 Months of Rhymes and Smiles by Patricia Furstenberg @PatFurstenberg #Review

My copy received from the author.

A puppy's first year is filled with findings, wiggles and laughter.

Puppies squirm in all the odd places, sniff all the strange objects, lick everything they can and find something to splash into even when we don't want them to!

This book of poems explores the first year of a puppy's life, as he innocently falls from one adventure into the next, one month at a time.

Puppy's first days of life, puppy's first weeks in a new home, puppy's encounters with the snow and the waves, with the school bag, puppy's own take on his duty to protect his human pack... What happens when puppy is full of good intentions, yet his actions go wrong?

From fun and playful to creative and crafty, rhymes are being used to amuse and underline the action. Bringing musicality into the duo of storyline and bright images, Puppy, 12 Months of Rhymes and Smiles promises to be an auditory feast for children, a fun read-aloud for parents and a treat for dog-lovers, young and old. A book that children and grown-ups will love reading over and over.

I'm delighted to be sharing my review for Puppy: 12 Months of Rhymes and Smiles as always with any children's book I read this with my little ones.

The illustrations are sweet and cute and really drew my two years olds attention where as my five year old really took to the poems. Even though Dex and Missy usually prefer to read a printed copy they both cuddled up with me and enjoyed looking at this book on my Kindle. The pictures worked well on a digital copy and to be honest as long as they are interested in reading I'm not worried whether it is a print or digital copy that we read from. I have to say that I would agree with the books age range of 4-9 years as my little boy seemed to appreciate the book just that little bit more.

This book is absolutely perfect for dog lovers and I loved the journey that the little puppy took in the first 12 months of it's life. We all loved the mischievousness that the puppy showed it made it all the more fun to read. There was a lovely use of words throughout that was easy for my children to understand. My little boy especially enjoyed the September entry as the "human pup" started school just like he did. It's lovely to see some of the new experiences that the puppy encounters right through to the pup's first birthday.

A wonderful and adorable adventure!

Five stars from us!

With thanks to Patricia Furstenberg for our copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
