The Little Cornish Kitchen by Jane Linfoot @janelinfoot @HarperImpulse #Review

ARC received from Netgalley.

Can you leave behind Paris if your heart belongs in Cornwall?
With a gorgeous new life in vibrant Paris, Clemmie isn’t looking forward to heading home to the picturesque but sleepy village of St Aidan, Cornwall. However, when she discovers that her cosy apartment by the sea, which her beloved grandmother left to her, is under threat from super-hot but ruthless property mogul, Charlie Hobson, Clemmie realises she can’t abandon her home in its time of need.
With her childhood friends encouraging her, Clemmie decides to turn the apartment into The Little Cornish Kitchen – a boutique pop up supper club raising money for the repairs to the building in an effort to stop Charlie once and for all. But when Charlie and his easy charm won’t seem to go away, everything soon becomes even messier than the state of Clemmie’s Cornish kitchen…

I loved the premise for The Little Cornish Kitchen from the gorgeous desserts to the romance aspect. Clemmie is an interesting character and in a way it took me a few chapters to warm to her. However she is a guarded person due to her past and I really enjoyed how Jane Linfoot brought her to life especially with her feisty nature. In this story Clemmie surrounds herself with her old friends and reluctantly connects with her past. Charlie is also a character who develops perfectly and I loved how more layers to his personality were revealed as the story progressed.

There are secrets, family drama and a simmering romance that all plays out wonderfully. This group of friends or should I say mermaids are so supportive and left me smiling on multiple occasions. I have to admit that there were a few tears but there were happy tears too! I will mention that before you pick up this book make sure you get settled with a large cup of tea and a selection of cakes. I was getting hungry just reading about the gorgeous descriptions of food. I may have gone out and bought brownies too, shh! The great thing is that I can even make Clemmie's brownies at home now along with some other delicious goodies with the help of some lovely recipes at the end of the book.

After getting to know the characters and feeling a lovely connection to the story I was a little sad to see this book finish. It's an uplifting, warm and romantic story that was a real pleasure to read. Jane Linfoot always creates the most gorgeous stories and The Little Cornish Kitchen showcases food, love and friendship. It really is the perfect treat!

Five stars from me!

With thanks to Harper Impulse and Netgalley for my copy.

I write happy fiction, with feisty heroines and lots of heart.

Writing is cool, because I get to wear pretty shoes instead of wellies. I live in a mountain kingdom in Derbyshire, England, where my family and pets are kind enough to ignore the chaos – happily, we’re in walking distance of a supermarket.

I love hearts, flowers, happy endings, all things vintage & most things french. When I’m not on facebook or twitter, and can’t find an excuse for shopping, I’ll be walking, or gardening. On days when I want to be really scared, I ride a tandem.
