Right from the start I enjoyed the descriptive writing that easily sets the scene making me feel as if I was right there at Summerhill. I love dual timelines and Nikola Scott has written both so well with the transition from one to the other working seamlessly. Along with creating characters that I became truly invested in as they find themselves in some dark situations. I was well and truly whisked away to the past but also fully immersed in the present too.
Summer of Secrets is such an intriguing story with a balance of lighter and more darker moments. The story shows love and friendship as you get to know both Maddy and Chloe with secrets and manipulations affecting them in both timelines. I felt a connection to both characters as the story had just the right amount of an emotional edge to it. I didn't want to put this book down it felt as if I was either re-living everything with Maddy or being in the here and now with Chloe. The pacing of the story was spot on and kept me turning the pages eager to know how it would all end.
Rich in detail and beautifully told!
Five stars from me!
With thanks to Anne Cater for my copy and invite to join the tour.
