Good Samaritans by Will Carver @will_carver #BlogTour @OrendaBooks @annecater #Review

I'm thrilled to be sharing my review for Good Samaritans by Will Carver as part of the blog tour today. First of all though let's take a look at the description for the book...

One crossed wire, three dead bodies and six bottles of bleach Seth Beauman can’t sleep. He stays up late, calling strangers from his phonebook, hoping to make a connection, while his wife, Maeve, sleeps upstairs. A crossed wire finds a suicidal Hadley Serf on the phone to Seth, thinking she is talking to The Samaritans.

But a seemingly harmless, late-night hobby turns into something more for Seth and for Hadley, and soon their late-night talks are turning into day-time meet-ups. And then this dysfunctional love story turns into something altogether darker, when Seth brings Hadley home… And someone is watching…

Dark, sexy, dangerous and wildly readable, Good Samaritans marks the scorching return of one of crime fiction’s most exceptional voices.

I have to say that straight away I was intrigued, sometimes that first page can really grab hold and for me I thought that this book did that perfectly.

Do you think that bleach is just for cleaning think again this story will open your eyes for sure! Dark and intense at times with some pretty twisted moments I couldn’t put this book down. Then when I wasn’t reading I was thinking about it wondering what would happen next. I have to say I loved how Will Carver easily kept me on my toes with his clever and very twisty writing style. I think the short and snappy chapters were perfect for this book easily keeping my attention fully on the story even when the perspectives changed. The characters have their issues ranging from lust going right through to obsession. Each character made me so curious especially as I began to discover more about them!

I have to admit that I found myself smiling away at the slightly dark humour it definitely adds a certain edginess to the story which combines easily with the darker moments. Now I’m trying to be pretty vague regarding the plot as this is the type of book where you really do need to just sit back and experience every moment for yourself. What I will say is that you may find yourself sitting upright as some scenes left me going “wow, okay” in shock!

Good Samaritans really is one hell of a ride! Easily pulling you in with shocks, surprises and very slick storytelling!

With thanks to Anne Cater and Orenda Books for my copy.
