The Man You Meet in Heaven by Debbie Viggiano @DebbieViggiano #BlogTour @bookouture #Review

I'm thrilled to be sharing my review today as part of the blog tour for The Man You Meet in Heaven by Debbie Viggiano. First of all though let's take a look at the description for the book...

Title:  The Man You Meet in Heaven
Publication Day: 25/09/18
 Author:  Debbie Viggiano

When Hattie Green pops to the shop one afternoon, she never expects her life to flash before her eyes between the tins of baked beans and a special offer on sliced white. One minute she’s loading her trolley and thinking about what to give her son for dinner, and the next she’s speaking to a gorgeous man in a glowing white suit about what her life could have been…

If you had the chance to go back and relive it all, what would you do differently? Go on that date, take that promotion… eat that second biscuit? Hattie is about to discover where she went wrong, but will her mystery second chance reveal some STONKING secrets in her past that probably should have stayed hidden?

A gorgeous romantic comedy from the bestselling author of What Holly’s Husband Did. Perfect for fans of Tracy Bloom, Marian Keyes and Dawn French.

So where do I start other than to say that this book was so much more than I was expecting. In a way I expected a light and entertaining story and don't get me wrong I got all of those things however there was also a much more deeper side that surprised me too. There was a great balance of lighter and more darker moments that really gave this story such a rounded feel.

Have you ever wanted to look back and reassess your life both the good and bad, well Hattie gets that chance and what follows is an emotional but completely uplifting story. Hattie goes on quite a journey and what an experience she has! It was so easy to become attached to her character, she is strong but also has a vulnerable side that you see revealed as the story progresses.

The pacing of the story was good and all of the little surprises kept me turning those pages. I thought that the way Hattie explored her past was brilliant and really adds an extra layer of emotion. This book will make you think and I loved the overall message that is portrayed. I couldn't help but finish this book smiling away to myself!

A romance with a difference that completely captured my attention!

With thanks to Noelle at Bookouture for my copy via Netgalley.

Prior to turning her attention to writing, Debbie Viggiano was, for more years than she cares to remember, a legal secretary. She lives with her Italian husband, a rescued pooch from Crete, and a very disgruntled cat. Occasionally her adult children return home bringing her much joy... apart from when they want to raid the fridge, or eat her secret stash of chocolate.
