The Makings of a Lady by Catherine Tinley #BlogBlitz @CatherineTinley @rararesources #Review

I'm thrilled to be sharing my review as part of the blog blitz today for The Makings of a Lady by Catherine Tinley. First of all though let's take a look at the description for the book...

Be calm, she thought.

Be gracious. Be twenty-two.

Lady Olivia Fanton is eager to prove she’s no longer a child. However, just as she thinks she’s found a suitable match in the suave Mr Manning, charismatic Captain Jem Ford walks back into her life, bringing with him all the embarrassment of her infatuation four years before! She’s determined to appear mature, distant, friendly

But does she dare hope he’ll notice her as the lady she’s become?

After reading The Captain's Disgraced Lady I was looking forward to catching up with this wonderful family. However I will say that The Makings of a Lady can absolutely be classed as a standalone story. So don't worry if you pick up this book first!

I couldn't help but like Olivia's character especially as she is so unsure about things in regards to Jem aswell as another man vying for her attention. I loved the friendship between Jem and Olivia along with the will they won't they aspect to the story. It was sweet but chemistry filled and I was hoping for a happy ever after.

The Makings of a Lady has a few surprises along the way with a bit of danger that ramps up the drama making the story even more entertaining. I thought that there was a good combination of lighter and the more suspenseful moments creating a pretty good balance throughout. This book was a pleasure to read from the villains causing tension to the all important hero and heroine who really are perfectly matched!

Sweet, charming and romantic!

With thanks to Rachel at Rachel's Random Resources for my copy.
