The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare @TessaDare #BlogTour @MillsandBoon #Review

ARC received from publisher

Thank you for stopping by I'm delighted to be sharing my review of The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare as part of the blog tour today. First of all let's take a look at the description for the book...

'I am a Duke. I’m not asking you to marry me. I am offering to marry you. It’s a different thing entirely.’
When the Duke of Ashbury returns from war scarred, he realises he needs an heir – which means he needs a wife! When Emma Gladstone, a vicar's daughter turned seamstress visits wearing a wedding dress, he decides on the spot that she'll do.
His terms are simple:
- They will be husband and wife by night only.
- No lights, no kissing.
- No questions about his battle scars.
- Last, and most importantly… Once she's pregnant with his heir, they need never share a bed again.
But Emma is no pushover. She has secrets and some rules of her own:
- They will have dinner together every evening.
- With conversation.
- And teasing.
- Last, and most importantly… Once she's seen the man beneath the scars, he can't stop her from falling in love…
When a girl meets a Duke, their marriage breaks all the rules…

As soon as a copy of The Duchess Deal arrived I couldn't wait to read it, from the cover to the description I was definitely intrigued. It's safe to say that I have a weakness for historical romance I just love the way that I can be transported to another time full of romance and charm.

Straight away there is a playfulness between the characters that made me smile, Ash and Emma spark off each other wonderfully. There is a lot of heart within the story too as both characters have had difficult pasts, Ash in particular. Ash is strong but with a vulnerability that made you feel for him. As the book progresses his charm shines through as more depth to his character is revealed. After a while I couldn't help but like him even when he was being bad tempered. Emma is not some damsel in distress and has worked hard to provide for herself, she had a wonderful sense of humour and wasn't scared to try and stand up to Ash which is what he needed. There was definitely a scorching chemistry between Emma and Ash that they just couldn't contain. I also really enjoyed the range of quirky characters within this story and I would love to find out more about them maybe for them to even have their own stories? I loved the little side plot with Trevor it gave a fun and light hearted feel to the story which made the perfect addition.

I found myself reading this story in one sitting it's perfect for losing yourself in. The Duchess Deal has humour, romance and some sizzling scenes, it really is a fabulous escape from every day life!

Four stars from me!

With thanks to Joe Thomas at HQ and Mills & Boon for my copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
