I'm delighted to be one of the stops on the blog blitz for A Cold Cold Heart by John Nicholl. Before you take a look at my review let's see the description for the book...

I guess I have to start my review by saying that this book has a definite dark, gritty and graphic edge to it. If you don't mind that kind of story then A Cold Cold Heart will be ideal for you. The details regarding the killer and what he does really sets a chilling depth to the story and at times pulled me right out of my comfort zone but for me this was no bad thing. Having chapters told from the point of view of the killer is always intriguing if not very chilling. So this aspect of the story really added an extra layer of tension and suspense over whether he would be caught but also giving an insight into his mind.
DI Gravel is definitely one of a kind and I enjoyed seeing his interactions with both his daughter and DS Kesey. He is sarcastic and pretty old school so this gave him an interesting edge rather than your typical detective.
A Cold Cold Heart moves at quite a fast pace and it felt like in no time at all I was nearing the end. There are some edge of your seat moments along with some shocking events that I wasn't necessarily expecting. Along with a sinister and a dark storyline that will have you hooked.
Four stars from me!
